Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection which was carried out on 24 June 2008. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gives us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home did not send the AQAA (self-assessment on) on time. The owner/manager told us that she was away from the home for some time during the last year. During this time a number of problems developed in the home. These included changes in peoples needs and issues with staffing. These issues meant that it has been difficult for the home to maintain excellent outcomes for people using the service. It has also meant that the home has not made many improvements in the last 12 months. We have received a number of concerns about the service over the past six months. We have been in contact with the owner/manager and she has put an action plan in place to deal with these concerns. She has enlisted the help of external agencies, such as Social Services, to help resolve these difficulties. She told us she is confident that these issues can be resolved and the home can continue to provide good and excellent outcomes for people. We sent surveys to people using the service but none were returned. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are going to keep in contact with the home and monitor their progress in implementing their action plan. If we are satisfied that the home is dealing with the concerns raised we will carry out a key inspection before 23 June 2011. However, if we are not satisfied that the home is providing good and excellent outcomes for people using the service we will visit before that date.
