There is a comfortable lounge, dining room and pleasant conservatory, and a very large, easily accessed, secluded rear garden with patio area. The front driveway of the home provides off road car parking space for several cars. At the time of the last Key Inspection on 2nd February 2009 fees ranged between £364 and £375 dependent on the level of care needs. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they may need to make. We sent surveys to people who use the service and to people who have an interest in the service. People living in the home tell us that they are happy there. We received comments from four people who live at The Glen and from two carers. People who live there told us that the home provides a family friendly environment and that care, comfort and cleanliness were second to none. They said that the food was excellent and that living at The Glen was home from home. Care staff told us that care is provided on an individual basis and to a high standard; that people who live in the home are treated with respect and dignity; that all meals were freshly prepared and that various activities were arranged for the people who live Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 there. Staff also said that they received updated training each year. CQC has not received any complaints about the service. They continue to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection in February 2009 when the service was rated a 2 star good service, and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fees and Frequency Regulations 2007 and the assessment of risk of the service. Further clarity will become evident as the new registration and inspection system under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 is confirmed.
