The building was formerly a hotel and has been adapted to provide residential care for up to thirty-seven older people, fourteen of whom are diagnosed as having dementia. The Home provides accommodation on three floors and a shaft lift is fitted. At the back of the building there are attractive views of the River Tweed and surrounding areas from the building and the garden. The Statement of Purpose/Service User Guide is available at the home and provides clear information about the service provided. A copy of the last inspection report is also available. Fees were not checked, but at the last inspection they ranged from £409.40 to £414.71 per week. Additional charges are made for hairdressing, toiletries, dry cleaning, telephone calls, newspapers and magazines.

What the care home does well Peoples` care needs are clearly identified within their individual plans, which are regularly reviewed to reflect their changing needs. Health care needs are identified and met. People are able to make choices about their routines and lifestyle. A good choice of food was available with special diets provided as necessary. Good systems are in place for dealing with complaints or allegations. This protects people living in the home. The home is comfortable and well maintained. Aids and adaptations are fitted to suit the needs of the people living in the home. Good infection control procedures are in place to protect people living in the home and staff. Staffing levels were sufficient to meet the needs of the people living in the home. Staff receive plenty of training opportunities to make sure they have the skills to meet peoples` needs. Staff have regular supervision to make sure that they do their job properly. Good systems are in place to check the quality of the service and these take account of the views of the peoples living at the home. The manager and deputy manager are qualified and experienced in providing care. Good health and safety systems protect the people living in the home and the staff working there. Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 8 What we found: Tweed View continues to provide a good standard of care to the people living there. Individual plans are in place for each person detailing their needs and how these are met by staff. People living in the home said that they are happy with the support they receive and spoke positively about the way staff care for them. They said that they are treated with dignity and respect and that they are able to make choices about their routines and lifestyle. There was a good variety of food provided and people said that they get plenty to eat and that they enjoyed their meals. Staffing levels are adequate to meet the needs of the people living at the home. Staff receive appropriate training and good numbers of staff have achieved national qualifications in care. They receive regular supervision and feel able to raise issues with senior staff about the operation of the home. The home is well maintained and has good systems in place for repairs, general maintenance and refurbishment. Policies and procedures for Health and Safety protect people living and working in the home. People are protected by the homes good systems for dealing with complaints and safeguarding issues.
