What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the previous inspection visit report and the service history. We also considered the information sent in by the service and in particular the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). The services provided were also discussed with the Registered Manager and information was also provided by the homes Clinical Manager. Other information included the minutes of Safeguarding Meetings. What has this told us about the service? To make sure the service can meet peoples personal care and support needs the information provided shows that these are assessed before people come to live in the home. Discussion with the manager confirms that the home works closely with other health care agencies to make sure people receive the support they need and require. The information shows that there home has a new unit that provides Intermediate Care for people who need support and rehabilitation to return to their own homes. The information provided shows people are also supported by Speech and Language Therapists,Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. The information also shows the service works closely with the Care Coordinator and Nurse Liaison Team. To make sure peoples personal and health care needs are met these are set out in a plan of care and these are looked at regularly to check and see that peoples care and support needs are met and changed if need be to reflect peoples choices and preferences. The registered Manager confirmed this. People living in the home are protected by the way medicines are dealt with as records show there are policies and procedures for staff to follow and all staff dealing with medicines hare trained to do so safely. To further promote peoples health , safety and wellbeing records show staff have Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, Infection Control, First Aid nd Food Hygiene training. However, information shows that recently disciplinary action was taken against a member of staff that did not follow the Moving and Handling Policy and Procedure. The Registered Manager confirmed that all new staff now have Moving and Handling training within the first two days of employment. People living in the home are protected by the way staff are recruited and selected as records show that references, police and POVA (Protection of Vulnerable Adults List) checks are taken up before they are employed. The service history shows that the CQC has not received any complaints about the home, however, records show there is a complaints policy and procedure provided for people to follow. The Registered Manager says there is only one outstanding complaint but this been appropriately dealt with by the service providers. To protect people from any kind of abuse the records show there is a Safeguarding Policy and Procedure for people to follow. The records show the home has had to make a number of Safeguarding Referrals since the previous in inspection visit. However, discussion with the Registered Manager and the minutes of Safeguarding meetings show these have been appropriately dealt with. To further protect people using the service records show all staff working in the home have Safeguarding training. The registered Manager confirmed this. The registered Manager confirmed that the service Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 seeks the views of people living in the home and their relatives by way of satisfaction surveys. However, they said that they have yet to collate the information gathered and to provided an Annual Quality Assurance Report. Records show that previous Annual Quality Assurance reports reflect peoples comments on the quality of Care and support provided by the home.
