Find the best care home for Archers Jack Woolley

Peggy is struggling to find a care home for her husband, Jack as he faces the tragic mental decline of Dementia, on the Radio 4 show ‘The Archers’.  The sensitive handling of the story line has been widely praised, but the show has only touched on the difficulty of actually finding a good care home.  Peggy has very little information to guide her choice and may stick to the familiar (but perhaps not best) local option ‘The Laurels’.

To create a wider discussion about the difficulty in finding care homes, the care home comparison website www.bestcarehome.co.uk has today launched a public appeal.

Can you help Peggy choose the best care home for Jack?

If so, write an article, blog entry or comment on any internet forum showing how you would go about finding the right care home for Jack and recommending a real world home.  The author of the best article will win £150 and the recommended care home will receive a donation of £150 to spend on resident welfare.

Richard Phillips, developer of the BestCareHome website says:

“Finding the best care home for a loved one is a truly difficult task.  By sharing actual experiences of looking for care homes and showing how to use information on the internet, we hope this will help real, rather than fictional suffers of this disease in future.”

The winning article will make a genuine contribution to public understanding, but will also show signs of Archer’s addiction. See articles under additional information and conditions.

Send a link to your article, or a copy of the article itself to jackwoolley@bestcarehome.co.uk before 6th November 2009.
