What did we do for this annual service review? We asked the service to complete a Self-Assessment tool known as the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). We sent for surveys from people who use the service and relatives and carers. We looked at any information we have received about the service since the last Key Inspection. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was completed to a good standard and contains detailed information about how the service meets the needs of people who live there. Surveys were returned to us and this tells us that people who live in the home are happy with the services provided to them. They are happy with the staff who work at the home and feel that staff listen to them. Staff are also happy working for the service. We received the following comments They provide support for the people living within the home They provide a supportive and caring environment that integrates the service users into the community. Very supportive of its staff Yes I was asked if I would like to visit the home and then decide Yes I was told who I would be sharing with and what age group. I was told about the surrounding area and what would be on offer for me in the community as I would be interested in taking part in various activities Yes I have a personal centered care plan. I am asked every year what I would like to do and the staff try hard to help. Sometimes though it depends on staff being available, when the home is short staffed. This does not happen much though The manager tries to make sure the home is staffed according to what activities I want to do Yes I can talk to the manager, staff and my family. I also know that I can talk to an inspector Yes we have a complaints book or I can speak to the manager and staff Yes we all have cleaning duties in our home. We like to keep our home tidy The staff are friendly and helpful Sometimes staff have a lot to do but they always find the time to listen Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 I like living at Whitfield Avenue.
