What the care home does well

People are cared for in a clean and comfortable environment and the home is decorated to a good standard. All people spoken with made positive comments about the care they received and the positive relationship they felt they had with staff. Observations made during this visit was that enough staff are on duty to support people who required help and that staff were mindful of residents dignity and privacy. Both residents and carers made positive comments about the manager, stating that she is friendly and approachable. The management and senior staff work well as a team and there is a very stable staff group, enabling good knowledge of the needs of people. However, visiting community nurses commented that a number of staff speak poor English which could be a problem for residents. People are encouraged to make choices about their daily lifestyles and individual likes and dislikes are catered for. The home is very user friendly for those people who have dementia, with coloured borders around the homes corridors with signing indicating toilets library and dining rooms.
