What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at information we had received or asked for since the last inspection which was undertaken in October 2008. This included the AnnualQuality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us in October 2009. The AQAA is a self assessment tool, that focuses on how well the outcomes for people are being met. It also gives statisitical information about the service. We received 11 surveys from people using the service. What has this told us about the service? The service returned their AQAA within the timescale required for the review, this tells us that the service understands the importance of sending to us up to date information in a timely manner, this gives the information that helps us judge the quality of service provided to people. Assessments are person centred, these are undertaken before the person moves into the home, this gives staff important information before they commence the care plan, this makes sure that staff can meet the individual needs of people. Risk assessments are included in the care plan, these include the likes and dislikes of peoples preferences on how they receive their care. People are actively encouraged to be involved in social activities and follow their own beliefs and customs and are supported to attend their place of worship and be involved in cultural events. The policies, procedures and staff training in safeguarding protects people from possible harm and abuse. There are health and safety procedures in place and risk assessments are undertaken, this make sure that people living in the home, their visitors and staff are in a safe environment and helps reduce the risk of accidents. Staff are supervised and appraised regularly, this gives them the opportunity to discuss their own personal development. Recruitment and selection procedures are robust and include references and checks by the Criminal Records Bureau. This makes sure that people living in the home are protected from potential abuse. There is a quality assurance system where people living in the home and their families and representatives can comment on how the home delivers its care and how the service can develop. People living in the home told us they received information about the service before they moved in. They receive the care and support to meet their needs, there is always some one there to speak to and the meals are good. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection visit by the 29th October 2011. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
