It has access to a small but adequate shopping centre and, via a local bus route, has relatively easy access to the main shopping centres of Hanley and Longton. The bungalow is a purpose built unit that is run by The Choices organisation, who have Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 a number of similar homes throughout the Potteries area. This home is registered to provide care for six [currently female] residents with varying degrees of Learning Disability. Two current residents have physical incapacity. The design of the home is based on the domestic model, with six bedrooms, a domestic kitchen/diner, laundry, and a communal lounge. Bathrooms and toilets have been specially adapted to assist those residents with a physical disability. Doorways and corridors are wide to facilitate wheelchair use and have been fitted with grab rails. The open plan layout established by creating an archway between the kitchen and the lounge has achieved its objective of encouraging residents to make more use of the lounge facilities. The property has a small but well kept garden at the rear with adequate seating for use in fine weather. There is a sloping Tarmac covered area at the front for car parking The exterior and interior are in a good structural state of repair. Current fees range from #211.55 to #456.13 per week. Fees are subject to annual review and do not include items such as hairdressing and personal toiletries. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We asked the service to send us a Self Assessment tool this is known as the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). We also sent surveys out to obtain peoples views about the service. We looked at any information we have received about the service since the last Key Inspection report. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was completed well and gives us detailed information about how the service says it meets each outcome for the people living there. The comments contained in the surveys are all very positive They provide a stable, loving and caring environment and the whole of the family are very happy with the care provided at Hoveringham Drive In an ideal world there would be more social activities, days out, weekends away and so on. But I appreciate this has to be balanced against the number of staff and their domestic commitments in the home Our relative has been very happy since living at the home Clients always appear clean and very well dressed. Staff are patient and caring with clients and always show them respect. Staff go to great lengths to give the clients social events. Its a welcoming home where visitors are always offered tea or coffee Toilet facilities are difficult for clients who use walking frames. My relative who can manage alone in the toilet most of the time is unable to wash her hands because the sink is tiny and there is nowhere for her to lean against for support when she loses the zimmer frame My relative is very happy at 63 Hoveringham Drive and as a family we very much wish her to remain there The home makes people feel welcome when they visit and are always helpful in answering any questions I have about my relatives health Nothing is too much trouble. The service is excellent My relative is very well cared for at this home and her needs are met We have not received any complaints or Safeguarding referrals over the last 12 months. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The above tells us that the service still provides EXCELLENT care for the people who live there. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan for this service.
