Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We asked the service to complete a Self-Assessment known as the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). We sent for surveys sot hat we could obtain the views of people who live in the home and staff who work at the home. We looked at any information we have received about the service in the last 12 months. This includes any concerns or Safeguarding referrals we have received. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA is detailed and provides us with information about how the service meets the needs of the people who live in there. The comments we received from people who live at the home and the staff who work there are mainly positive but there are some concerns about staffing and people having to wait for long periods of time for the toilet The home provides a very good activity leader who encourages residents to take part in most activities with a programme rotating every two weeks, bingo, quizzes, dominos, and an organist and singers They could provide more carers so that residents arent kept waiting to be toileted They provide an excellent activity leader who encourages residents to take part in most activities with a programme rotating every two weeks They should provide more staff to toilet and feed residents so they dont have to wait so long They care for my needs well. If I need anything I get it Everything is alright They look after my aunt very well. The staff are very pleasant and willing to help when needed Need more staff day and night Quality care - the nurses are pretty good Better communication between all staff needed Short of staff sometimes. Unable to attend immediately when I need to go to the toilet Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 They seem to be well looked after. Everywhere is nice and clean. When asked to go to the toilet they take too long and when we have asked a member of staff they say they will be back but never do. You always have to ask a few times The home offers diversity, empowerment and choice to the residents It could improve the supply of sundry medical and nursing equipment Provides a good service. Provides individual care and equal opportunities for all staff More experienced care staff and more incentives for staff are needed. More staff needed or in some cases give staff a few more hours The home does most things well We have received some concerns from Social Services about the care of a person who lives in the home. These concerns were in relation to a person not receiving their medication on time on several occasions. Also the person has to wait for long periods of time before being taken to the toilet. The Social Worker told us that she had raised these concerns with the manager during a review but has recently contacted us to say that there have been no improvements in these areas. We suggested that she goes through the services formal complaints procedure. The service has now informed us that this complaint has been addressed. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are going to continue with our planned programme of inspection for the time being but we may bring the Key Inspection forward if we receive any more concerns about the service.
