What the care home does well
The staff collect information together about the person before anyone moves into the home to make sure they can meet their needs. The care plans are detailed and easy to understand. Staff often talk with other professionals to ensure residents health care needs are met. The home is suitable for the people who live there and there is specialist equipment to meet their needs. With support of the staff service users are able to choose how to spend their leisure time both in group and one to one activities. Although the service users are unable to say what they think of the home and staff there was evidence that the relationships were friendly and based on mutual trust. The staff make sure that the service users and their home is kept as safe as possible.
What has improved since the last inspection?
The home has worked hard to meet the requirements from the previous inspection report. The manager is now registered and has developed an enthusiastic team who are keen to develop the service. Staff training has improved and they have received training in Safeguarding Adults. There is now a stable staff team who have been given information about what to do when the manager is not available. The front windows have been repaired.
What the care home could do better:
The home needs to continue with a redecoration programme of all areas of the home. Staff records must be available in the home for inspection. The manager needs to continue to look for advocates for service users. The registered manager needs to complete the Registered Managers Award.
