What did we do for this annual service review? We carried out this Annual Service Review on 24/09/09. We looked at all the information that we have received or asked for since the last Key Inspection. This included the following - The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. We looked at Surveys which we sent out and were returned to us by people using the service, other people with an interest in the service and staff who work for the service. We looked at information we have received about how the service has managed any complaints. We looked at what the service has told us about what has happened in the home, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We have not made any other visits to the service in the last twelve months. We also considered what other people and organizations have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their AQAA when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. These are the comments we received from people who live in the home and their familiesHigh standards of care, cleanliness, food and friendly staff. The activities co-ordinator is very good. They should not put people to bed early (7PM) when they are short staffed. They keep me safe and well. The home does most things well. I like all the staff, they are always there to help me. The service is satisfactory but sometimes there is a long wait for attention. The home does everything well. Provides nice meals and activities. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 I need better access to my money. Provides clean rooms and things to do. Very comfortable surroundings. They keep my room nice and clean and provide activities. Nice friendly environment. Provide everything I need for my short stay. Could provide better bedding. These are the comments we received from staff who work for the service We care for residents well. The home should employ more staff and more wages for care staff when working short. The home does everything very well. I have no problems working with any members of staff. They need more activities in the afternoons and at weekends. The service should take into account those comments which are negative with a view to improving the identified areas. The service continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last Key Inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a Key Inspection by 06/10/10 However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
