We did this unannounced visit early afternoon. The reason was to follow up a on a concern raised with us. A visiting health care professional raised this concern as she observed that people living on the first floor unit appeared uncared for during a visit. We found on this unannounced visit that the the concern was unfounded. We did not follow up on progress regarding all the requirements made in last key inspection. We met with the newly appointed manager and discussed some of the staffing issues experienced. We observed a number of records in relation to residents, also the record of complaints. We met with all the staff team on duty on Rose Unit. A large number of residents were in the dining room when we arrived. We spoke to residents in group setting, also individually. We observed the care practices of the staff on duty. We toured all of the home except for the kitchen. During our visit we held discussions with the palliative care nurse, she regularly visits the home to meet with residents receiving palliative care and oversees their care.
