What did we do for this annual service review? The last key inspection took place on 4th April 2007. We looked at all the information we have asked for or received about the service since the last inspection. The manager has completed and returned to the Commission the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA). The AQAA is a self assessment document that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also provides some statistical information about the service. Some of the information provided in the AQAA is included in this report. What has this told us about the service? In the AQAA the manager demonstrates how a robust programme of quality assurance is continuing to operate in the home. Some residents expressed a wish that some of their outings could be on a more individual basis and so a Renault Kangoo vehicle has been purchased for the home which is adapted for wheel chair access. The manager states that residents have been very pleased to be able to use this vehicle although larger vehicles are still used for group outings. The door of one bedroom has also been replaced at the request of the resident concerned. The manager confirms that there is a continuing maintenance programme in operation in the home. Most communal areas and bedrooms have been refurbished and the staff room has been completely upgraded. Flat screen televisions have been provided in the communal lounge and in some individual bedrooms. More staff training has been provided and, when one final care worker completes NVQ2 training, the whole staff team will have achieved NVQ 2 or above. The manager has also completed NVQ 4 training. In the AQAA the manager shows that in the last year all the homes policies and procedures have been reviewed and updated where appropriate, and that a larger variety of current information about care provision has now been made more easily available for staff. A new drugs cupboard and controlled drugs cabinet have also been installed to ensure the system for administering medication remains thorough for the protection of the residents. The manager states that no complaints have been received in the home in the last twelve months. No complaints about the service have been received by the Commission since the last inspection. From the information received so far we have judged that the home is still providing excellent services to the people involved . Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We can inspect the home at any time if we have concerns about the services provided. The next key inspection of the service will be undertaken before 4th April 2010. As with all care services, information will continue to be gathered over the intervening period. The homes performance will be subject to a process of continual assessment and evaluation in the light of any information received, with appropriate regulatory action being taken as indicated.
