This inspection was carried out following concerns brought to our attention that staffing levels may be low and staff may be working prior to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check being received. The manager was on duty and confirmed that for the past four weeks two staff have been on duty in the home. The staffing rotas showed that this was the case. At present there are nine people living in the home. Their individual needs were discussed and it was felt that the staffing levels were appropriate. The manager said that interviews were being held on 30th April 2009 in order to recruit new staff to work in the home. There was written evidence in the staff files to show that staff are not employed in the home until a CRB check and two written references are received. This helps to protect the people living in the home. Three people who live in the home were present at the time of the inspection. They were enjoying a board game in the dining room.
