Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 18 What we found: We visited the home to check compliance with the Statutory Requirement Notices that we issued in December 2009. We found that work to meet these had taken place. We found that all the Statutory Requirement Notices had been met or that work to meet these was taking place. We found that the acting manager had worked hard to do the things we had asked the home to do. We found that she had put in place systems to help the smooth running of the home and improve the quality of care for people living there. The Acting Manager has prepared an application to be registered with CQC and is waiting the return of some checks before she can complete this. She has made contact with local heath and social care professionals. The staff have undertaken some training and more is planned. The Acting Manager has met with all staff individually and as a team. We saw that staff records were completed and included checks on their suitability to work at the home, although two staff are awaiting the return of criminal record checks. The Acting Manager has improved the systems for assessment, care planning and risk assessment and has created clear, up to date and accurate care plans for the people who live at the home. The Acting Manager has organised for checks on health and safety equipment. She has completed records required by Regulation. The Acting Manager has reviewed the way in which activities are provided and recorded and menus are planned. She has also asked the people who live at the home for their views about the service and has recorded these. She has used some of their suggestions to help form her action plan for the home. She has organised for weekly meetings with the people who live at Redcotts so that they can share their thoughts and opinions and so that they are well informed.
