This inspection was carried out on 4th October 2006.

The inspector made no statutory requirements on the home as a result of this inspection and there were no outstanding actions from the previous inspection report.

What the care home does well
All service users spoken with expressed satisfaction with the care that they received from staff members. One service user said, "I am very happy here and have no problems" Another said "I like it here" Visitors said that staffing levels were sufficient and that the home was kept in good order. One professional said that there are "Welcoming, friendly staff, a pleasant environment and grounds and that the staff members were caring and supportive to both service users, and their family members" Another professional said that there were enough staff members, who consulted with them appropriately. There are good arrangements for ensuring that service user`s needs are assessed prior to them moving into the home. Service users, in general, have their health and personal care needs met well and are protected by good practice in handling medication. There are suitable arrangements for handling complaints. There are good arrangements for ensuring that service users live a fulfilling lifestyle, in accordance with their wishes, and there are systems involving service users in the running of the home. Structured activities are provided daily and there are opportunities for service users to relax and spend time with their family members and friends. The home is comfortable, clean and generally, well maintained and there the grounds of the home offer a pleasant space to relax. Staff members are supplied in sufficient numbers and there are good arrangements for staff supervision and guidance.
What has improved since the last inspection?
Both Requirements made at the last inspection of the home have been met within agreed timescales. There has been the provision of some new furniture in the home and the new Manager has introduced group supervision as a means of improving the quality of care provided by the staff team.
