This random unnanounced inspection was carried out over a period of two and a half hours. We were concerned about two main issues; that the manager had left and that the home had been infested by bed bugs. The problem about the bed bugs was causing serious concerns with a relative of a resident who contacted the Commission. We spoke to two relatives who were visiting the home durning the inspection and to the deputy manager who was in charge. We visited several bedrooms which had been cleared of bed bugs, and four which were still affected. We sought advice from Barnet Environmental Health regarding the strategy adopted by the home to treat the infestation of bed bugs.
