Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. The AQAA was received, fully completed on 18 September 2009. This contained comprehensive information in all of the sections, detailing how the service addresses the standards and how this is evidenced. Other information we have about this service includes notifications under Regulation 37 which advise the CQC of untoward events in the service. These notifications are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection was conducted 29 August 2007, where the home was given a two star rating, a good service service. An annual service review was completed 1st December 2008 and this did not change our opinion of the service. Additional information received about the service was also included. Comment cards were sent out; nine were received completed, five from staff and four from residents. The CQC has been advised of no Adult Protection matters or complaints this year . What has this told us about the service? At the last key inspection the home was given a good rating and one requirement was made regarding record keeping. It was evident at the last key inspection that residents received good care and support. The AQAA was well completed and included the following statements to evidence a good service: Staff are recruited and selected using the recruitment and selection process. Staff are fully trained and developed throughout their career with the service. Consistent staff team and low usage of Agency cover offering service users continuity of care that is important to them. Training matrix updated to track targets to ensure staff access learning and support to develop their skills. Service users have their own key worker. All concerns and complaints are dealt with promptly and followed up by regional complaints coordinator. Residents comment cards had few comments included although they indicated that a good service was provided . The only comment ,was the following They look after me . I go out and visit different places and feel safe . Staff comment cards were also favorable about the service saying we are proactive in supporting service users, the home supports the service users and provides for their needs . One comment card requested more staff meetings and another requested more rescoures for activities and outings . What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review?
