What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the information we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people who use the service. It also gives us some statistics about the service and the previous key inspection carried out on the 3rd October 2007. What has this told us about the service? The manager sent the AQAA after we asked for it. This gave us all the information we needed. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the service is still providing a good service and they know what further improvements they need to make. They use needs assessments to develop care plans, people who use the service are involved in developing and reviewing care plans. People who use the service are able to do what they want during the day, evening and at weekends and are supported to keep in contact with family and friends. The service provides a homely environment which is well maintained. The manager said they could liase better with local caring associations. They plan to replace the carpet in the entrance hall, staircase and hallway, to keep the environment at a good standard. We have not received any complaints or concerns about the service. The manager said they have not received any complaints in the last year. The manager told us they listen to the views of people who use the service at house meetings. The service continues to let the CQC know about things that have happened since our last key inspection. The service works well with us and have shown us that their home continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by the 30th September 2010. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
