What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. We undertook an extensive telephone survey of the service with the registered manager. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home unfortunately was unable to return their completed annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) in the prescribed timescale due to unforeseen circumstances. 32 Andover Close is a very small care home providing care for only one service user who was suffering from a long term illness and subsequently passed away at the time the AQAA was requested. The manager explained the situation to the inspector and it was agreed that it would be inappropriate at that time to return the AQAA to the commission. The commission has received information from a health care professional who was very complementary about the service and the care provided to the service user, especially during the periods of her illness. Our judgment is that the 31 Andover Close could continues to provide a good service, in the future to a new resident. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 17th of December 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
