Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. 4 surveys (out of 10 sent out) returned to us by people using the service. We also received surveys from health and social care professionals and staff. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the service is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. All of the people who have accessed the service at Ark House indicated that they had been asked if they wanted to move in and had received enough information about the service. They can usually make their own decisions about how they spend their time. This does however, depends which part of the twelve step programme they are on. They all know who to speak to if they are unhappy and they know how to make a complaint. The home is usually clean and the staff and managers treat them well and listen and act on what they say. People said: my councellor is first class at giving and reassuring advice and they help you find out who you are, and they help you build your confidence and self esteem, and they have given me the tools to work with and stay sober Feedback received from social care professionals included: We have used Ark House on a regular basis for drug and alcohol dependence. We have found the service reliable, structured and comprehensive. As a consequence we have experienced some positive success with out clients who have maintained their abstinence for the long-term Ark house provides treatment that is often flexible to meet the needs of the client feedback from clients indicates that they feel very supported and empowered to make positive changes to their lives Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 All the feedback received was positive about the assessment and admission process and for the level of support people received whilst they were resident at Ark House. Feedback was also received from staff and they all indicated that they had been thoroughly vetted prior to the commencement of their employment. They have access to regular training and support. Some of the feedback included: gives people an education about their addiction makes sure the persons need of care are assisted and correctly identified as being suitable to what the home offers before a bed space is offered The service continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide very good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? It is our Statutory responsibility to inspect all care service at least once every 3 years The completion of the Risk assessment and Annual service review has not changed our view of the quality rating of this service therefore we are not planning to inspect this service before 25th November 2011 However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
