Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? Ashmore Nursing Home was made a 3 star, excellent service during its last key inspection on 12th June 2007 and their last annual service review was done on 20th May 2008. We looked at all the information that we have received or asked for since the last key inspection, this included: Information given to us in the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have been told about how the service has managed any complaints it has had since the last inspection. What the manager has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. Information given to us by the manager when we spoke to them. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we may have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information given to us by other organisations and what other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was very clear and gave us all the information we asked for in a detailed and thoughtful manner. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. We spoke to the manager on the phone and she told us what had been happening at the home since we last visited. She told us that they havent had any formal complaints made, she prefers to talk to people and iron out difficulties before concerns escalate to complaints. We havent had any complaints made directly to us regarding this home since the last inspection either. While we talked the manager commented that she made sure people living at the home were given a good quality service because she considers herself and the carers to be, an extension of the family. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The previous inspection report highlighted the excellent range of activities that are offered to people, they are tailored to each individual to best suit their needs and preferences. The manager told us that she aims to further improve this area and said that it was good to see the way the activities coordinator, Gets the laughter going. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide excellent outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 12th June 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
