Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the information that we have received since the last key inspection. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service within the requested time. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for the people using the service. The AQAA is a legal requirement; it also gives us some numerical information about the service. The previous inspection report of 16 December 2008. What the service has told us about the things that have occurred in the service these are notifications and are a legal requirement. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. Relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their annual quality assurance assessment within the required timescales. The information in the AQAA provided us with most of the information we asked for. We were told how the home ensures that people who use the service are consulted on things that matter to them. For example, The AQAA tells us they have monthly care plan reviews, residents meetings and annual quality questionnaires. They told us how they promote Equality and Diversity within the service. They said they have equal opportunities and anti discrimination policies and procedures in place. All staff are trained in these areas. Residents practice their beliefs and religion in their chosen manner freely. The AQAA tells they have not received any complaints in the last twelve months. People told us previously at our inspection visits that they know who to speak to if they have any concerns. No complaints have been made to us about the service. The service tells us that they follow their recruitment procedures in seeking references and completing safety checks to make sure that suitable staff are employed. We were told that over 65 of care staff have achieved a minimum of level two in the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in care. This means that staff should have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide a good standard of support to the people who live there. We did not request any surveys for this annual service review. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We have looked at all the information available to us and in our judgement the home continues to provide an excellent service. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan however, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
