Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was completed and sent to us by the service. Completion of the AQAA is a legal requirement and it enables the service to undertake a self assessment, which focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We telephoned the Manager of the service. The previous key inspection findings. No surveys have been returned to us. What has this told us about the service? The manager completed and returned the AQAA to us within the timescale, and it provided us with information about the outcomes for people using the service. We looked at the information provided in the AQAA and it indicates that the service has a clear picture of their strengths and how they plan to further develop the service. The AQAA information told us there have been no complaints made to the home in the last twelve months, and that one safeguarding referal had been made and dealt with. We telephoned the service and the manager told us that there had been no changes in the management of the home since the last inspection. The previous inspection report told us that the people who use the service were seen to be protected from dangers to their health, safety, or welfare, by the policies and procedures adopted by the providers. The AQAA told us equality and diversity is promoted at the home with all people using the service and staff being treated as individuals and equally. The service has in place an equal opportunity and diversity policy. Over the past twelve months the service have employed an external consultant to review human resources procedures. One element is to check that the service is meeting its requirements as to promoting equality and diversity amongst employment procedures. The AQAA told us that staff receive appropriate training with regular ongoing updates. Regular supervision and appraisals take place. The information contained in the previous report indicates that the suitability of staff is Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 thoroughly checked. From the information received including the AQAA, we believe that the service is still providing good outcomes for the people using the service. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 31/10/2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
