Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the information that we received or asked for since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAa is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about he service. Information we have about how the service has managed complaints, or allegations. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the home. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection report. The service history. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA, the service history, and additional information received since the previous inspection and it is our judgement that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they have to make. The home continues to operate a structured admission procedure and only people whose needs can be met are admitted to the home. The AQAA indicates that needs assessments, care plans, and risk assessments are in place and reviewed regularly. The home has a complaints procedure and safeguarding procedure in place. There have been no formal complaints investigated since the last inspection. Leisure activities are arranged within the home and the AQAA stated that external funding is going to be accessed to provide more activities and outings for service users. Quality assurance is monitored and addressed on the comments received from consumer questionnaires. Regular service user meetings and suggestion also contribute to the quality assurance process. The AQAA states that renovation and refurbishment of the premises are currently being undertaken to enhance the facilities of the home and meet the requirements from the last inspection. Staff are employed with the appropriate skills to meet the needs of the service users. Recruitment procedures are in place to protect the service users living in the home. The AQAA indicates that the home promotes the health, safety and welfare of the service users and the staff. The service continues to inform the CQC of any relevant events that have occurred since the last inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 They work well with The Care Quality Commission and have shown their service continues to [provide good outcomes for people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 16th September 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using it.
