What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: -The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment [AQAA] that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. -Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. -What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. -The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. -Relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? We received the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. There was very detailed information provided in the AQAA showing clear evidence of how the home has continued to improve since the last key inspection. Some of the improvements notes included:A new one person flat has been built within the grounds. It is seen as ideal for someone to live semi independently gradually building up their skills and striving for greater independence. The new flat is staffed via the main house and staffing levels have been increased by one member of care staff to assist with this. One resident continues to have a work placement and another two residents started work placements during the year. Additional activities are also available to residents including the use of wii fit, which has been popular with everyone. You told us that during the year the external building was redecorated and the driveway was renewed. In addition you stated that there are plans to redesign the kitchen area and that the views of the residents will be sought and used as part of this process. We have not received any concerns about the home in the last year. You told is that you received two complaints from residents and that they were resolved to the satisfaction of the complainants. You made ten adult protection referrals. In each case it was found that the home had acted appropriately. Since the last inspection of the home the registered manager has resigned from her position as manager. A new manager has since been appointed. She has yet to submit Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 an application for registration. She is currently working towards achieving a National Vocational qualification at level four. As a result of the last key inspection carried out on 7 December 2008 there was one requirement made. The requirement was in relation to the need to confirm in writing to any prospective resident that the home having carried out an assessment would be able to meet the needs identified. Whilst the AQAA detailed a very comprehensive assessment process there was no reference to the above requirement. There has been one new admission to the home since the last inspection. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide very good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We consider the quality rating of the home remains good since the last key inspection. We will do a key inspection by the end of December 2010 to review our assessment of the home. However, we reserve the right to revisit this decision if additional information is brought to our attention. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
