What did we do for this annual service review? Information received about the service since the last inspection in February 2009 was reviewed. Telephone discussion took place with the Registered Manager. What has this told us about the service? The 5 residents at 37 Brackenbury Road remain the same as at the key inspection. The majority of staff remain unchanged. There are currently two vacant support worker posts and one member of staff on maternity leave. The Manager confirmed that vacant posts are covered by regular bank staff who know the residents, though she is hoping to recruit to the two vacancies soon. The Manager has kept the Commission informed about incidents affecting the welfare of residents. There has been one safeguarding referral following an incident affecting a resident while on holiday abroad. The resident, who had to return home, has been fully compensated for her missed holiday. Other information received indicates that prompt action has been taken to protect residents interests when there have been concerns. There have been a small number of incidents involving medication errors. The Manager states that following an investigation staff involved have been retrained in the safe handling of medication and procedures have been updated. Since the last inspection there have been two complaints raised internally by residents indicating that they feel confident about raising issues. The Manager has confirmed that action has been taken to meet the requirements made at the last inspection. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Information reviewed indicates that 37 Brackenbury Road continues to provided a good service and that there is no need to change the date of the next key inspection.
