Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review:
What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. How any safeguarding adult alerts has been managed. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. A telephone discussion was also held with the person in charge as part of this annual service review. What has this told us about the service? The service was last inspected 10th February 2009 and this represented the first inspection of the service since being registered. No requirements were set at this inspection visit and only one recommendation was made. As noted during our visit in February the manager of the service is a registered nurse and has 20 years experience in care work. At the time of this annual service review the manager was not on duty and was on sick leave having been absent from the home for at least 2 weeks. The day to day management of the service was being carried out by the homes assistant team leader. Discussion was held with the person who was on duty in the home at the time of this review as the assistant team leader was not in the building. It was confirmed that there have been no changes to the building since the last inspection. One new person has joined the staff team. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 In discussion with the person in charge it was confirmed that a number of staff have undergone refresher training in control and restraint. As noted in the last inspection report in February staff informed us that they received good quality training and support from their employer. The assistant manager and the staff told us that they had mandatory training as well as service user specific training such as managing behaviors. It was also confirmed that that staff receive regular supervision. The home provides prospective service users with the information they need when coming into the home. And people can make introductory visits to see what the home is like. In discussion with the person in charge it was confirmed that one new person had moved into the home and plans were in place for another gentleman to move into the home. The home continues to notify us in a timely manner of any events that need to be reported. There are currently no matters relating to safeguarding adults and we have received no complaints about the service. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 30th November 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
