What the care home does well There are currently two newer residents in the home who are having a planned introduction to residential living. We saw evidence of the very flexible and individual way these residents are being supported, both to gradually accept their new surroundings and to maintain their very strong links with their previous home. We saw that relatives of these two people are frequently welcomed as part of the home enabling all parties to be comfortable and happy with the changes underway. All the care provided at the home is person centred in every way. Person centred planning underpins people`s daily lives and we saw evidence that all residents are fully involved with care planning through a meaningful key worker system. Staff support each resident to achieve their recorded goals , a few at a time and details were seen of the steps to achieving the goals and the monitoring of outcomes. All information about the home is provided for residents in an easy-read, and pictorial format. We saw these documents in all bedrooms and they included the complaints procedures and individual easy-read NHS guidance, which enables the residents to understand any treatment or medication they might need. Every resident also has an activity board in their bedroom with a daily pictorial plan to show them what is happening each day of the week. We saw two residents return to the home as we arrived. They had been with two staff members on a shopping trip for the home and were very animated with this trip, showing us their purchases. We saw the lunch enjoyed by residents during the visit and staff said that meals are planned according to the residents` wishes, using the pictorial menus displayed. The staff confirmed that the main meal of the day can be served at either mid-day or in the evening according to the residents` needs and wishes. The home has achieved a 5 stars rating for hygiene standards awarded by the local authority. What the care home could do better: We found no areas where any improvements could be made during this visit. Random inspection report
