What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information we have asked for or received about the home, since the last inspection. This information included the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA), sent by and returned to the Commission from the homes manager. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also provides some statistical information about the service. The information provided in the AQAA was also checked against the findings as set out in the last inspection report. Information received since the last key inspection is reflected in this report and also will be noted in the next inspection report. What has this told us about the service? The manager returned the completed annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) and we looked at the information provided. In our judgement the home is still providing an good service. Information taken from the AQAA states that the home will continue to support residents who wish to make their own lifestyle choices and provide relevant training for staff to ensure that residents identified needs would be met. Within the next twelve months, the manager has also stated in the AQAA that staff will work closely with existing residents to maintain life skills and cognitive ability; plan to work on further extending the current care plans to include methods of assessing and care planning on the areas of physical fitness and functioning, sensory capabilities and health; the home will further develop the Montessori based activities whereby families and visitors will be taught how to use this programme and will continue to source good quality training to further widen the staff knowledge and skills. With regard to Equality and Diversity, the registered manager has stated in the AQAA that the home promotes dignity, diversity, independence and respect at all times and every one is treated as an individual. Each resident has an Equality and Diversity care plan. All staff are trained in every aspect of Equality and Diversity, most recently in disability discrimination. The home has policies outlining all aspects of Equality and Diversity and ensure all residents are made fully aware of the meanings surrounding such issues. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We can inspect the care home at any time if we have concerns about the care provided but there is no indication that an inspection is required in the immediate future. The next key inspection of the service will be undertaken within 1 year of the date of this review unless information received suggests that an earlier visit is necessary. As with all care services, information will continue to be gathered over the intervening period. The homes performance will be subject to a process of continual assessment and evaluation in the light of any information received, with appropriate regulatory action being taken as indicated.
