We looked at information that we have received,or asked for since the last key inspection on 26th september 2008. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQQA) that was sent us by the service. The AQQA is a self assessment that focuses on how well the outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people who have an interest in the service. Ten staff surveys, one service user survey, and one survey from a care manager were returned in time to be considered as part of the service review. Information we have about how well the service has managed any concerns or difficulties. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other contacts we have had with the service in the last 12 months. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQQA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQQA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. For example, staff sickness cover is being addressed by increasing the compliment of bank staff. People who work in the home feel supported, and the people who live there tell us that they are happy. We received comments from a care manager who knows the home. One comment was, The staff are always extremely accommodating to any of my requests, advice and suggestions. The home provides a friendly, homely and relaxed environment. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since the last inspection and they have shown us that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide excellent outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by the 7th August 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
