Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection October 2008. This included the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. The information we have received from the surveys we sent to people living in the home and to the staff working there. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. People living in the home tell us that they are happy there. They are particularly pleased with the way in which staff support them. People told us they help me in day to day duties and help me get back on my feet, and they have given me my confidence back, I dont think they could do any more. One person said The care is very good and staff are nice and helpful. We received comments from two relatives of people living in the home. They continue to be very satisfied with the quality of the care. One comment was The home is run very well. The home has also told us that it has improved the amount of activity that is on offer for people to take part in. Recent events have included the wine and cheese evening and sherry and mince evening. The home has also told us it has improved the amount of outdoor activity for people to take part in, such as trips to Sandwell Valley park, Dudley Zoo and Cadbury World. People using the service said we would like more things to do but it is getting better. We received comments from four staff members working at the home. They told us We do get the training we need, we keep people safe in the environment and make sure that peoples needs are met, the care staff have the experience and love the job they do, I enjoy working at Churchfield court. All of the staff who responded to our Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 survey told us about their concerns with staffing levels. They said more staff so we can do more activities. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 9th October 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
