People using the service were socialising with each other and sitting in the various lounges available. Some people were playing bingo, watching television, reading newspapers and magazines. People appeared relaxed within their own environment and staff were directly observed interacting with people with dignity and respect. One person using the service was cuddling a bear. One person using the service stated the staff are very nice and I just feel very safe. During the inspection it was noted that the service is a member of the National association for providers of activities for older people (NAPA). An activity display was visible and several people using the service were observed looking at this during the inspection. One care plan was reviewed and documentation held showed that the immediate care and support needs of the person were recorded and met. The person using the service was observed to be relaxed and calm within their environment. It was found that the individual at times displayed aggressive behaviours. Whilst this was documented within the plan of care it did not further expand to access the individual risks associated with this for the person and other people living at the service. This was brought to the attention of the manager during feedback. Three staff working at the service have received training in how to support people and manage challenging behaviours that may occur. One staff member added hat the training was very useful. Staff have received additional training. Recent training provided to staff includes, First Aid, Fire, Medication, Moving and Handling, Infection control, Managing challenging behaviour and Dafeguarding adults.
