It is located on a busy road which connects the towns of Hanley and Burslem. The surrounding area is heavily populated, and since its inception, Elm House has fitted in well with the local community. It is registered care home for 8 adults with learning disabilities. The service is currently unoccupied.

The service is currently dormant. This means that it is not occupied at the moment but remains registered as a care service. The provider has made a decision to carry out building work to improve the environment and the facilities provided. This includes a reduction in the numbers of registered beds available from 12 to 8 and the provision of en-suite facilities for all of the bedrooms, in addition to more general improvements in the communal areas of the home. The provider served notice on the previous occupants of the home to enable the progression of the plans for refurbishment and development.
