What the care home does well Recent surveys received from residents stated that residents were satisfied with the home in general, that staff were friendly, care was good, rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable and there was a good choice of meals. Staff in the surveys returned said that good staff support was in place and that there was a good caring team of staff to assist residents with the only suggestions being to provide better seating outside with a shelter for smokers and improve the decor of the home, which management said that this was going to happen. What the care home could do better: To further improve the service management need to: Ensure that there is a formal written authorisation from the District Nurse as to which staff have been trained and are competent to change bandages. Staff must always refer to medical services if a potentially serious injury occurs to residents. COSHH products must always be kept securely. All staff must know how to follow the full SOVA procedure. Bedroom locks should be changed to ones that allow residents to get out of the bedroom. The Manager should receive administration support to allow more time for her to be with residents and supervise staff. A survey stated that clothes go missing and the clothes that are not theirs are supplied to residents. Random inspection report
