What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection 25/11/08. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service and that they have made further improvements since the last key inspection of 25/11/08, when they achieved the excellent quality rating. Key aspects of service improvement as detailed in the AQAA are: People are very much more involved in how they would like things to be changed within the home and garden. The service has plans to move the vegetable garden to a larger plot as they want to be more self sufficient in home grown food. They intend to make their own jam again with home produce, to grow more fruit, to pickle onions and to make relish and grow herbs for use in cooking. A wii is to be purchased to encourage people to exercise indoors. Care plans are more informative and people are encouraged to participate in the recording of their care with staff. The manager states that people do feel that Field House is their home and like to have a say in the running of the home, which makes them more satisfied with the service. This was very much reflected in the surveys we received from people. Comments included : Family atmosphere, The staff at the home are always ready to help make life as comfortable as possible, I am happy to be at Field House, I feel very lucky, Cheerful staff. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 The manager commented that staff training is achieved in a shorter time span and that they are enjoying their training which makes them feel more valued and professional. There is a computer onsite for staff to use for in house updates. The service continues to address any shortfalls highlighted by complaints, concerns, customer surveys, meetings and audits. The service has a quality audit process to enable collation and sharing of information to enable the provider to monitor and improve the service to people. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection. The service continues to focus on positive outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will do a key inspection by 25/11/2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
