What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service and also gives numerical information. We looked at information about how the service has managed any complaints. We looked at what the service has told us about things that have happened, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We considered the findings of the previous key inspection, the results of any other visits and telephone calls that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. We considered the information provided in staff and service user surveys that have been returned to us. We also considered relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? The manager sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) however this was after the expected date and was due to computer error. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service. The information detailed how the service had improved in the previous year and also highlighted planned improvements. The manager told us that improvements, as a result of consulting with the service users, included changes in the menus and a wider range of recreational activities. The manager continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they managed issues well. In the main, they work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. We have received information from staff confirming that they received training and management support to enable them to do their jobs well. People who use the service confirmed that, they knew how to complain, were able to do what they wanted each day and that staff listened to them. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 5th November 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
