What the care home does well The homes keeps clear records of changes in health care needs including when additional input was required from other professionals. All records of accidents and incidents were recorded and investigated to prevent further injury to people. All staff have received updated training appropriate to their role. Date of last inspection Brief description of the care home Hamilton House is a large care home owned by Penton Homes Ltd. and situated near Mutley Plain, Plymouth. The home can accommodate 32 people and are also able to accommodate people with Dementia. Hamilton House consists of two large houses converted into one. A passenger lift provides access to all floors, however there are Care Homes for Older People Page 2 of 7 Brief description of the care home steps leading to some landings that may pose a difficulty for residents with restricted mobility. The current fees for the home range from 333 pounds to 368 pounds a week. This may vary depending on individual need. We found that Hamilton House held clear records for people currently requiring input and treatment from the District Nurse team. This included information in the daily records and individual care plans as well as the designated District Nurse file held in individual bedrooms. We found that staff were using suitable lifting equipment when moving people and wore protective clothing when assisting people with personal care needs. The staff were able to confirm they had received regular manual handling training and Infection Control training organised by the home. We found that the senior staff were fully aware of individuals care and medical needs for people living in the home as well as being aware of the recent accidents and incidents effecting the well being of each person.
