Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It contained sufficient information and was clear. It demonstrates that the home has an understanding of what best practice is for the people who live here and they know how to maintain this. It shows that they consult with the people who live here and they make changes based on their views. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service. Some examples of the developments within the home are: the range of activities and day trips for service users has increased, potential new residents are now invited to meals and overnight stays at the home as part of their decision making process. The garden has been revamped and the exterior of the house redecorated. The home has hosted the wedding of a service user and supported another to have a pet dog. Plans are in hand to provide a new brochure and website for prospective service users. People receive a consistent service from staff who are open to new ideas to support people to empower them to take control of their own lives and realise their aspirations. The AQAA tells us how service users care continues to be planned in an individual and co-ordinated way. Each person has a key worker who helps to ensure their needs are met in a way that suits them. All of the five care staff hold NVQ level 2 or above. Staff have attended training courses covering self harm, deprivation of liberties, autism and dementia. The home owners are enrolled on a pilot E.U. course on Quality Assurance for Care Homes. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. The Commission has not received any complaints or any other information from other sources about this service. We have not made any visits to the home since the last key inspection. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 29th March 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
