We visited Magnolia House on 15th June 2010 to check that requirements made at the time of the last key inspection have been met and to review issues arising from information we have received since that visit. We were not able to talk to the people whose records we inspected. We did speak to three members of staff and the manager. We took into account all of the information we have received since the date of the last key inspection, including the providers annual quality assurance assessment. No comment cards were received on this occasion. We found that action has been taken to meet the requirements that were made at the time of the last inspection. A support plan and risk assessment have been completed on the administration of medication with food to a person who uses the service. Staff members have consulted the persons GP and the local authority Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards officer to ensure that the practice is in her best interests. The medication administration records that were inspected have been completed to a satisfactory standard. Support plans have been completed on a second persons religious & cultural needs, including those associated with eating & drinking. Records of the meals provided to him and checks of the food that was available confirmed that appropriate arrangements have been made to meet those needs. Improvements have been made to the properties, both internally and externally, since the date of the last inspection. Many areas have been redecorated and refurbished. Floor coverings have been replaced and new furniture has been purchased. Turf has been laid at the front of Magnolia House and raised beds have been built. A gardener has been employed to maintain these areas and to develop the garden to the rear of the property. What the care home does well: What they could do better:
