What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included, The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us some of the information we asked for. The AQAA did not detail how the service identifies how they could do better and what improvements they plan to make in all areas. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home appears to be still providing a good service at this time . The AQAA told us how the service had used the views of people using the service to make changes in the home. These have included better lighting in the communal areas and changes to the menu. The AQAA says that Anything that arises will be considered and implemented if reasonable. We received comments from four people living in the home. People told us that they were happy with the care they received. When we asked, What does the home do well they told us I like the cleanliness, the food and the staff, They look after us, The staff are so nice,Everything is to my satisfaction and I feel the home does everything well and cant find fault with what they do. One relative told us The Manor Home is a homely environment. The carers are very caring and look after my relative to the best of their ability. The last key inspection at the home was undertaken on the 18th February 2009 and the home was assessed as having 2 star , good, quality rating. No requirements were made but 2 good practice recommendations were made. These were, The registered providers should review each persons care plan to ensure it gives a more detailed description of the persons care needs and the action required by staff to meet those needs. And,The registered providers should keep under review the homes medication practices to ensure the risk of errors is minimised. The homes AQAA told us that these areas have been addressed. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We have not received all of the notifications from the home about things they should let us know . We are aware that there are some things that the home should have let us know. We would require that the manager of the service review this areas with a view to informing us of all areas under the scope of notification. The AQAA told us that the management of the home have managed one complaint within an agreed timescale. We have been advised of two concerns. We visited the service to undertake a random inspection on the 14th January 2010 as part of an investigation process. The investigation found the concern to be unfounded. This home works well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will do a key inspection by the 17th February 2011 . However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
