What the care home does well The home is in a quiet setting on the edge of Holbeach town, but near to the shops and other facilities. A visitor commented that one reason for choosing the home was that it had a very good reputation in the area. People are cared for in a clean and comfortable environment and the home is decorated to a high standard. All people spoken with made positive comments about the care they received. One said it would never be home but it was the next best thing and another compared it favourably with another care home she had visited. Visitors praised the manager and her approach to care. The staff group is well trained and knowledgeable about the people living at the home and how they prefer to be cared for. The manager and care team work well together and there is a stable staff group, ensuring good knowledge of the needs of people. People are encouraged to make choices about their daily lifestyles and individual likes and dislikes are catered for. Surveys returned to us were very positive and comments included praise for the staff and the manager. What the care home could do better: Nutten Stoven has very clear and established quality assurance procedures and where improvements are required they are either planned or being addressed by the manager and staff within the home. During this visit we talked to the people to obtain their views about whether they felt their needs were being met and about their quality of life. We also spoke to staff to learn their views about how they felt their training and development needs were being met. We also spoke with the provider to learn of any changes which have taken place and if there were any risks to the people living in the home. We spoke to five people who use the service, two members of staff and two visitors. Feedback was given about the outcomes at the end of the visit.
