What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all of the information we had asked for or received since the last inspection of the home. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) a self-assessment form that we ask all services to complete. Surveys completed by staff and relatives of people who live at the home. Notifications of incidents, which the home is legally required to send us. Information about how the service has dealt with any complaints. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their quality assurance assessment when we asked for it. The information provided was clear, specific and planned improvements were related to how they will improve the quality of service for people living in the home. The service has kept us informed of incidents at the home, this is important because it enables us to monitor the service on an on-going basis. The service sent us information about how they had dealt with a requirement for action made at the last inspection. The response was detailed and told us what they were going to do to reduce the risks of further errors. The commission received a complaint about staffing levels during the year and asked the provider to respond to the issues raised. A full response, detailing the investigation undertaken was forwarded to the Commission in a timely manner. When the home had concerns about the well being of a person living there they took appropriate action and referred the situation to the appropriate bodies. This demonstrated that they were acting in the best interests of that person. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, we will carry out an inspection by 15th July 2010. However, we may inspect the service at any time if we have any concerns.
