Annual Service Review Page 3 of 7 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? They sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA). It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that they are still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The AQAA stated that the home provides information on the service with various written, verbal and electronic means, attend services to talk about Ravenscourt. Encourages meaningful and open ended assessments to potential clients, also informal visits without assessment for clients and families. Each service user has an individual plan constructed at time of admission that is regularly updated, shared, reviewed and agreed. Decision making is encouraged within the confines of a rehabilitative environment. A key worker system enables the client to assess risk and act appropriately. There are opportunities to develop lifestyles while in Ravenscourt as a member of the community, sharing of domestic and social tasks and developing their life skills in conjunction with care planning and family intervention. Community links and social inclusion are encouraged by attendance at self-help groups, leisure activities, worship and a programme of social activities that include use of a minibus, leisure centre membership, community group, visits to places of interest and physical and sporting activities. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 7 Very strong links with local health centre offering large range of primary care and personal healthcare support. Similarly easy access to established local dentist service. The long standing relationship with these services offers quick referral routes and fast tracked appointments and pharmacy services. Personal support can be accessed internally or externally, maintaining privacy, dignity and independence. The Registered Manager holds RMN qualification and RMA and NVQ4. The Staff and Service Users have opportunities to influence the running of the service. The service is monitored by a Board of Trustees who meet quarterly. External input is encouraged to constantly monitor the services effectiveness. The Management ensure that the premises are safe and secure for our service users to live in and for staff and visitors to work in by complying with all relevant legislation and by carrying out an effective programme of maintenance and fire prevention. The AQAA also stated that the home continued to use questionnaires in order to obtain the views of people living in the home and their /relatives representatives about the quality of the service that it provided. We received survey comments from five staff, two health professionals and six service users. All continue to be very satisfied with the quality of the care provided, the training staff receive and the support from management. Some service users said; Provides a good environment that is safe and structured Staff really help you to focus on your recovery A good introduction to the twelve step programme My life was a mess before I came here, the staff have performed an amazing turn around in me A very structured programme The food and accommodation are good The programme moves at a pace which is challenging without being overwhelming Some staff said; We are supported in our role There are good links with other agencies We have regular training and supervision Annual Service Review Page 5 of 7 The service helps people to overcome addictions The programme is very structured Some health professionals said; They are prompt at passing information to agencies when needed Offers a safe supportive environment A clear model of treatment which is firm and fair Good at supporting people move on to next stage of treatment Offers an efficient and effective service The service continues to work well with us and let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection.
