Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? The quality rating for this service is 2 star. People who use this service experience good quality outcomes. The rating was made on 18th January 2008 following a key inspection. We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people who use the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service; these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and they know of the further improvements they need to make. As a result of listening to people who use the service there was information in the AQAA to say that some changes have been made. A new vehicle has been purchased for the people who use the service. The home has user friendly formats for documents, care plans and other information viewed by the people who use the service. Different courses within the community have been accessed for people who use the service. Each person has been enrolled on a course ranging from drama to pathways to independent living. During monthly reviews with the persons key worker people discuss other opportunities within the community, either leisure or life skills. Care plans are currently being reviewed to incorporate the Mental Capacity Act. The home plans to introduce a picture format for people, to view their meals. There is an acting manager at the home, however he has been previously registered at another home for the same client group. He is making an application to become registered with the Care Quality Commission. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We have not received any information to suggest that the rating of this service has changed. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 16th January 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
