What the care home does well People can take as long as they need to decide if they want to live in the house. People are asked about what they need. And a lot of information is collected before people move in to make sure their needs can be met. The home supports people to have interesting lives and people living at the home are being introduced to new activities and experiences to help them lead more fulfilled lives. People living at the home are supported to learn or renew self help skills to help them become more independent in aspects of every day living. The house is clean and comfortable and well maintained. Staff help people keep in touch with their families. There is a very good standard of record keeping. There is a good level of staff training. What the care home could do better: Risk assessments should be carried out with each service user and recorded in their individual care records for any identified areas of risk.It may be regarding social activities they take part in or an aspect of personal and health care. This is in order to minimize the risk to the individual or to others. A risk assessment should be in place to deal with sleep apnoea and for the use of the equipment so staff are aware of procedures to deal with this. Random inspection report

An unannounced visit to the home took place on February 1st at 10:30am. The inspection focused on record keeping, staffing levels and vetting procedures and the medication system. At the time of the visit two people living at the home were available with two members of staff and the proprietor who also works in the home. The third person living at the home was attending a day service. The two gentlemen were talkative and showed me around their home. They said they were very happy living there and the home was very comfortable. They said they were encouraged to be involved in making decisions e.g about what to eat, where to go out. They showed me the very large garden and were looking forward to better weather so they could start working in it to help grow vegetables. When the three gentlemen go out into the community three members of staff are available to escort them.
