What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the information that we have received, or asked for since the last Key Inspection. This included : The Annual Quality Assessments (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for the people using the service. It also gives us numerical information about the service. We asked some of the people who live at Rose Cottage about what it was like to live there, we also asked some of the staff and local general practitioners for their views about the service. We have received three surveys from people who live there, two from the staff who work there and two from local general practitioners. Information about how the service manages complaints. What the service has told us about the things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous Key inspection and the results of other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The service sent is their AQAA when we asked for it. It was clear and in general gave us the information that we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and have sought clarification from the manager about some of the things that had not been filled in in the AQAA. Our judgement is that the service continues to provide a good service to the people who use it. It also shows that the service continues to seek the views of the people who use the service and to make improvements to the service delivery. We have received completed surveys from three of the people who live at Rose Cottage and one from a local general practitioner. All of the comments that we received were favourable, they told us that The staff at Rose Cottage look after me, they are always kind and helpful. They always take me to the doctors when I need to go and they also give me my Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 medication. They feed me and I like the food. They always welcome my visitors, I look upon Rose Cottage as a real home from home and I am very happy here. The general standard of the home is excellent, Rose Cottage suits me just fine Rose Cottage does well at everything and there is nothing that they need to improve. The staff look after me and see to my every need The staff comments were also favourable, they told us The staff at Rose Cottage treat the people who live there with respect and dignity, they cater for their individual needs Rose Cottage is a small home which is nice and homely The GPs comments were also favourable they told us that The service transports clients to the surgery when required. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fees and frequency Regulations 2007 and the assessment of risk of the service. Further clarity will become evident as the new registration and inspection system under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 is confirmed. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people who use the service.
