What the care home does well Scarletts has a good management structure in place, the manager is ably supported by a deputy manager, admin staff and a well structured care team. The atmosphere in the home was calm and people were observed to be relaxed. It is situated in a quiet, residential area of Colchester. The service offers accommodation and support to fifty older people. It is registered to care for up to sixteen people with a diagnosis of dementia. The accommodation is over two floors with several stairways and a passenger lift to access the upper floor. The building is set in its own extensive grounds with gardens and woodland around. The woodland is home to a variety of wild life that can be observed from the home. There are five different lounges in the home with a number of other small informal seating areas around the building. The dining room is large and airy and there is a patio area with level access, garden furniture and sunshades. There are forty-four single rooms and three shared rooms, some rooms have en suite. Both floors have a number of bathrooms with hoists. Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 7 What we found:
We looked at areas that had been identified at the last inspection as requiring some improvement. Overall we found that improvements had been made. Through discussions the manager demonstrated a commitment to providing a good service and making improvements where and when they are needed.
