Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: Contacting the manager. Other things they have told us that have happened in the service are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the previous key inspection report. We sent out surveys to residents and staff. What has this told us about the service? The registered manager gave us an overview of the home and and the developments proposed by the organisation for the home. We were told they were hoping to increase the number of bedrooms by changing the small lounges that are on each floor four floors. They said they had consulted with residents, their families and staff and the feed back from them was positive. The registered manager had asked for our views and we had expressed concerns that this would give residents less shared space. These concerns were listened to and considered and they will leave second floor lounge as it is. The registered manager said they would apply for a variation to the registration when the work was complete. The registered manager gave us more detail of the things that were happening in the home. We were told they have no vacancies. Care Plans and risk assessments are reviewed regularly to ensure that the needs of the residents are being met. These are met using a person centered approach which incorporate the views of residents. They said they do regular internal audits and if there are any visitors at the home during the time the audits are taking place, their views would also be sought. The results of these are analyzed and an action plan is put in place. This ensures that they improve the service given to the residents and address any environmental issues. We were told they had good feedback from the Social Services monitoring team. Seven residents responded the survey we sent out as part of the inspection process. All said they were happy with the home and one said they were extremely happy with the home. Four thought the home couldnt do anything better and this included two family members. One asked for more activities while another said they were never bored and had plenty to do. Comments that the food was good and staff were always smiling were said too. Eight staff returned the surveys and all were positive about the service they provided for the residents. They said they followed policys and procedures and provide a relaxed good service. They said they had good training and the management of the home was good and listened to their views. One suggested there were more activities for the residents and another said they thought the residents would benefit Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 by having their own transport/ mini bus to get residents out more. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have worked to manage issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to strive to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do an inspection by November 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
